Do you get any useful information when you 'ssh -X -vv -X user at B' ?
I think I had this problem on FreeBSD and there was something in the -vv
output relating to it calling an application along the wrong path, I
*think* it was the xauthority stuff.

I'm trying to ssh from computer A to computer B. Computer A is running
Redhat 9 and computer B is running Debian (sid). When I ssh from A to B
I'm using the following command:

 ssh -X user at B

On B the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file has:

 X11Forwarding yes

Yet, the X11 forwarding is not working giving me the following error
when I try to run xterm:

useer at B:$ xterm
xterm Xt error: Can't open display:

Now I can ssh from A to other computers and X11 forwarding works fine,
so I tend to believe that the problem is a configuration issue on the
debian machine. There is nothing in /etc/hosts.deny, so I don't believe
tcp wrappers are the problem.

One solution would be to export my display, but since B is on one side
of the firewall and A is on the other, that isn't really an option. Once
again, I can ssh to other computers on the other side of the firewall
and X11 forwarding works fine.
