Did you have a modem installed orginally...?
Check to make sure the port assignments are correct.
Ports in Linux for modems are generally /dev/ttyS0,
windows com port 1, and /dev/ttyS1, com port 2 on
windows.
Go to the /dev directory
run
ls -la modem
see what the link is, you should see domething like
modem -> /dev/ttyS1
It's been a while since I used Mandrake, but this
hould get you started.
