[wplug] SuSE 9.0 ??

The problem was with the NVidia driver. 
Apparently, Yast update did not install the latest driver. 
I got it from the NVidia website and installed the Latest Version: 1.0-5336.  <http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_1.0-5336.html>

I was pretty happy with Suse as it seemed to recognize almost all of my hardware. 
There were no other problems withh the install.
