[wplug] [wplug-announce] proposed membership referendum

Attention:
Anyone who considers themselves a "member" of WPLUG or anyone who wants to
be a recognized member of WPLUG

The proposal:
A way of formally recognizing individuals who may be so inclined to step
forward to identify themselves as WPLUG members, it is being proposed
that registration would be opened to those who choose to do so. These
ideas were formed from the concerns of recent planning meetings which
included board members and general members.

WPLUG meetings, mailing lists, the irc channel, and website will continue
to be open to the general public. You may continue to be in our mist and
practice whatever level of anonymity that makes you most comfortable.

The purpose would be so that WPLUG leadership would know who to pool
besides the general list if a referendum was needed from time to time.
This would give those who care about the activities of WPLUG to have input
and ownership of the direction that it takes. In a sense, registered
members will have the added benefit of voting privileges. In addition
registered members may make formal proposals to the board.

We ask that those who wish to become registered members take part in
the following
1. Submit their name and at least one form of contact.
2. Pay $5 dues. Dues payers will get a coupon for free pizza at one
WPLUG event. If anyone feels the need to waive this for any reason,
it will be honored for that individual. It's only a small token to
demonstrate that one considers themselves as a stakeholder of this
organization.
3. Renew yearly.

If you have thoughts, opinions, questions, or flames regarding this
proposal, you may contact me individually: bethlynn at wplug.org
or bring it up a the open forum, April 3 1:30pm after the talk and
pizza hour. All concerns will be addressed beginning now until May 1st.
