[wplug] samba back over network

Samba can be difficult to backup because it allows filenames, etc that are
invalid on the underlying Linux filesystem.

I run a service that uses IBM TSM to accomplish off site backup of
computers. We are successfully backing up samba files. So, I know that TSM
can do what you ask.

Thanks,

Sal

Subject: [wplug] samba back over network

Does any one know of any good free software that can backup a samba mount
over a network. Right now I am using tar to dump the data to tape, but I
would like something else that can be more automated. And be able to use
the same tape instead of having to have each tape being one backup.

Also a client server system would be great, one where the backup server
could run a server, the client then would connect and send the data to be
backed up.

  Thanks.
