Even better, use rsync with ssh as the network transport.  

The great Linux leader has declared dump to be a dead end.  I'd still
recommend dump for *BSD, but on Linux systems you probably should stick

Not a _direct_ answer to your question, but some alternatives.

Consider rsync as a replacement for scp: less bandwidth.

dump can do what you want, but you'll need to write some sort of script
to
manage it.  I don't know of anything pre-built out there.
