[wplug] writing pam modules

I'm in need of coding a pam module, but have never done so before.  So 
looking through google, I've found a ton of sites that talk about 
writing pam modules and how they work.  Has anyone here written pam 
modules, and if so, can you recommend some online or book resources that 
a beginner might be able to use?
