| How do you get it to do that? I'm assuming you don't type it in manually
| every time...

it's part of my mutt settings:

set attribution = "Sometime in %(%B) %n assaulted the keyboard and produced:\n"

| I'm using Redhat 9.0. The reasons are twofold:
| 1), it didn't occur to me to check, and
| 2), those people from whom I've learned what little I know about linux
| have lernd me to be extremely skeptical of Redhat. (I pretty much do
| everything from the Command Line, using X11 only to open terminal
| windows, watch DVDs, and use the non-ascii version of emacs.)
| But I'll try that next. Of course, Redhat probably will not recognize the
| TeX source tree because it *wasn't* installed from RPM..
|
| How do I determine if LaTeX comes with teTeX? Isn't LaTeX just a library
| of macros that sits ontop of TeX?

i'm using redhat 9, and latex works fine with it. these are the different
packages i have installed:

tetex-doc-1.0.7-66
tetex-afm-1.0.7-66
tetex-xdvi-1.0.7-66
tetex-1.0.7-66
tetex-fonts-1.0.7-66
tetex-latex-1.0.7-66
tetex-dvips-1.0.7-66

i'm pretty sure they all come with the distro. i wouldn't be too skeptical
of redhat. i would say that most of the packages that come with their
distro are going to work pretty well. given that, i've been using latex
under redhat since around rh 5 without any problems. you might want to move
the tex sources to something before you install the rpms.

i pretty much do everything from the command line also, though i don't know
what this has to do with redhat :).

| [[Anyway, as of about a week ago, my laptop won't come out of sleep
| anymore, so it seems that I suddenly have more substantial problems to
| deal with. Time to do the homework assignment in WordPad. :-( ]]

word pad eh? you know they have vim for windows :)
