I saw this problem with the stock nv driver that came with XFree86 4.0
for my nVidia card, when I used the www.nvidia.com ones, it flew and is
still one of my favorite killer of 5 minutes. So basically, for me it
was the graphics driver missing 3D support.

I have installed Linux (usually RedHat) on PC's with processors ranging
from 130 MHz to over 1.0 GHz. While almost everything has worked, one
consistent failure is with Tux Racer. This game is always extremely
slow to recognize mouse movement and keyboard. Anyone else seeing this?
By slow I mean that a movement of the mouse takes 5 to 10 seconds to
move the icicle cursor.
