Damn Small Linux is a supposedly better for older hardware than Knoppix.
DSL is a Knoppix derivative with a lot of applications removed and is
not based on KDE. It can also be installed to the hard drive like
Knoppix.

Thanks, Hardeep. Generally I do a floppy boot, and install over
the network. Since the laptops I have are all <166Mhz, I have just
thrown
a distro on there, and use like Mozilla from one of the larger boxen in
the house. Old laptops make great portable terminals, which is all I
really want out of them.

I mean -- who wouldn't want a small terminal in the kitchen?
