Have you looked into Knoppix? Doesn't need to be installed (runs from a
CD), has openoffice and will give you a good feel of LINUX?

Subject: [wplug] Suggested older notebook distro for noob?

I have a friend with an older (233MHz) Compaq notebook running Win95. He
just purchased a new computer, and he wants to experiment with Linux.

He's primarily concerned with word processing/office capabilities -
nothing unusual, so he'd like to run OO.

He's coming from no Linux experience, and I'm a noob, so with that in
mind, can you guys suggest a good distro for him?

Thanks in advance,

Scott
