Hello,

WPLUG has been asked to participate in a mission to distribute
open source cds to the public.

I'm sorry that the mission itself will be explained very broadly
but I will be explaining why later.

Here is the mission:
A founder of a software development company is going to come to
Pittsburgh for a one time lecture. The mission is to attempt to
distribute open source cds as people are heading to the lecture
hall. We will continue to give out cds to other passers-by outside
during the lecture itself.

To be part of this mission, sign up for one or more of the following
1. Be there to hand out the cds. You must be able to be on location
on a Wednesday morning. It would also help if someone could be there
to take pictures.
2. Contribute blank media.
3. Contribute cds with anything open source on it. Knoppix, OpenBSD,
OpenOffice, Linux kernel source, or whatever else you want. It is
suggested that whatever you burn is not a multiple cd set but anything
will be accepted just as long as it is open source. If you don't have
media and you would like to do this, we can provide media for you.
4. Contribute money. The total budget for this project is $140 which
will buy cd-rs, cd sleeves, posters, and other materials. Any materials
left over will belong to WPLUG.

OK, here's why we're being so secret.
#1 The lecture is by invitation only. I wouldn't want someone to read
this and try to get into get into the lecture saying that I invited you.
I'm sorry but I do not have the authority to invite anybody. In fact, I
will not be on the guest-list. Only a select few will be invited and they
will be checking photo id at the door.
#2 If the organizers of this lecture find out, the mission might have
to be aborted.

Only those with real interest in helping on this effort will be told
more specific information. No additional information about this
project will be posted on the list until the date passes.

If you'd like to help in any capacity, please email me at bethlynn at wplug.org

Thanks,
Beth Lynn
