Hello,

I run a suse 9 on a sony pcg frv26. I have a netgear
wireless card and could configure it for my home
wireless connection. My configuration file
(/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan0) is something like
this:

DHCLIENT_MODIFY_RESOLV_CONF='yes'
DHCLIENT_SET_DEFAULT_ROUTE='yes'
BOOTPROTO='dhcp'
MTU=''
REMOTE_IPADDR=''
STARTMODE='onboot'
UNIQUE=''
WIRELESS_ESSID='Home'
WIRELESS_KEY=''
WIRELESS_MODE='Managed'
WIRELESS_NICK='home'
WIRELESS_NWID=''

I can just do a "ifup wlan0" and get it connected.
However if I have to connect to a publich hotspot
connection, I have to change the ESSID to "any" and
get the connection. I was wondering if I can have
different wlan (like wlan0, wlan1) for different
wireless networks. I just tried making some
ifcfg-wlan1 etc. but could not make it work.

In windows I have seen that I can just see all the
avialbale wireless networks at hotspots and choose the
one that I need. How can I do the same in linux? Now,
when I use essid as 'any', it just connect to one of
the available networks.

Thanking you in advance,

With regards,

Dileep
