1) Your /var/maillog makes me wonder if you're getting rejected because
   your server looks like a spam source.
2) Consider replacing sendmail with ssmtp.  ssmtp is a LOT easier to
   set up, configure, and maintain if you're just trying to get mail
   off that machine.
