FIrst of sorry for the no subject. Changing mail clients and missed it.

Update on the alsa project. Thanks for the input I have received but a
still not working. Here is the update.

Boot 2.6.5 kernel witll all sound as modular. When system boot I have no
modules loaded (per lsmod). Upon runing 'modprobe snd-cs46xx' I get:

*********
inux:/proc # lsmod
Module Size Used by
snd_seq_oss 34432 0
snd_seq_midi_event 7680 1 snd_seq_oss
snd_seq 55952 4 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event
snd_seq_device 7560 2 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq
snd_pcm_oss 48036 0
snd_pcm 88096 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_timer 22916 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm
snd_mixer_oss 17280 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd 47844 8
snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_mixer_oss
loop 13320 0
snd_page_alloc 9604 1 snd_pcm
soundcore 8288 1 snd
**********

Try to test sound card:
linux:/ # cat /opt/kde3/share/sounds/KDE_Logout.wav > /dev/dsp0
(have to ctl+c to stop this as it just sit their with no sound)
linux:/ # cat /opt/kde3/share/sounds/KDE_Logout.wav > /dev/dsp1
-bash: /dev/dsp1: No such device
linux:/ # cat /opt/kde3/share/sounds/KDE_Logout.wav > /dev/dsp2
-bash: /dev/dsp2: No such device
linux:/ # cat /opt/kde3/share/sounds/KDE_Logout.wav > /dev/dsp3
-bash: /dev/dsp3: No such device
linux:/ # cat /opt/kde3/share/sounds/KDE_Logout.wav > /dev/dsp4
***************

I poked around in /proc to see how things were going:
linux:/ # cd /proc/
linux:/proc # less pci
linux:/proc # cat pci
<snip>
Bus 0, device 5, function 0:
Multimedia audio controller: Cirrus Logic CS 4614/22/24
[CrystalClear SoundFusion Audio Accelerator] (rev 1).
      IRQ 11.
      Master Capable. Latency=64. Min Gnt=4.Max Lat=24.
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xf4122000 [0xf4122fff].
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xf4000000 [0xf40fffff].

One interesting note is that if I run 'alsaconf' it says no PCI
soundcard available and once I quite I get this:
linux:/proc # lsmod
Module Size Used by
loop 13320 0
snd_page_alloc 9604 0
soundcore 8288 0
linux:/proc #

Fun. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly apreciated

It did not work with the stock 2.4 kernel (and for varios reasons) I then loaded 2.6.4 from SuSE site which also did not work. I then build my own to fix some SMB and video issues with theirs and build a 2.6.5 kernel. It works fine for every thing, seems to find the sound card but it will not play audio.
