[wplug] Adding fonts to Gimp

I downloaded a TTF font from the web.  I put it in 
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ on my system and the system can see it.

Except for the GIMP (1.2).  

Is there something special I have to do with the GIMP to get it to allow 
me to use these fonts?
