[wplug] general or specific embedded-Linux advice requested

Hi Beth,

I do embedded Linux for a living (I gave the real-time Linux talk at a GUM
way back), so I can try and help you. I haven't done much with handhelds
(most of what I do is kernel-mode driver work, and of course building to
boot from flash, etc).

1) Make sure you have a TESTED toolchain built up on your development box
2) Learn how to debug a kernel oops
3) Research all relevant chipstes in your device
4) ALWAYS have a backup boot method in place before you fire up the new
kernel.
