Hi Kuzman... A hub or switch will do BOTH... When you are stacking 
either, they have either an extra port to do this or on of the ports 
do dual duty... The extra port is crossed over internally and the one 
that uses the same port normally has a switch to do the reverse if 
needed...

The Radio Shack coupler is just that, a coupler to attach 2 standard 
cables as an extension or with the use of a cross over cable makes a 
longer cross over... I personally do not advise the use of a coupler 
if you are using a 100Mb connection, but it does work OK for 10 Mb...
