Sometime in September bgtrio at yahoo.com assaulted the keyboard and produced:
| MS does offer some warranty protection, but it's very limited. Pretty
| sure you're right about no support out of the box though.
|
| Don't have it in front of me now though.
this is a pretty useful site
http://proprietary.clendons.co.nz/licenses/eula/
most of the warranty protection basically says that if the software doesn't
work we'll replace it or refund your money. if the software was free, like a
downloadable distro, this is implicit. the eulas pretty much absolve themselves
from all liability associated with their software malfunctioning:
http://proprietary.clendons.co.nz/licenses/eula/windowsxpprofessional-eula.htm
Except for any refund elected by Microsoft, YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO ANY
DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, if the Product
does not meet Microsoft's Limited Warranty, and, to the maximum extent allowed
by applicable law, even if any remedy fails of its essential purpose.
where a remedy includes a refund, and it continues ....
Microsoft and its suppliers provide the Product and
support services (if any) AS IS AND WITH ALL FAULTS, and
hereby disclaim all other warranties and conditions, either
express, implied or statutory, including, but not limited
to, any (if any) implied warranties, duties or conditions
i really dont see anything in the warranty that would be provided to a company
that the company doesn't already get when they download something for free.

What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless,
whether the mad destruction is brought under the name of totalitarianism or
the holy name of liberty and democracy?
