[wplug] wierd name resolution problem

FOr some unknown reason, I can use my web browser to find any page, use 
my email to get and send mail, same with newsgroups...

But any domain I type into my command line, comes up with name 
resolution errors:

[sugapablo at dell sugapablo]$ ping wplug.org
ping: unknown host wplug.org

[sugapablo at dell sugapablo]$ ssh russ at candidate.zhrodague.net
ssh: candidate.zhrodague.net: Temporary failure in name resolution


What's up with that?

Mandrake 9.1.

Relevant extra info:
used adsl-stop and adsl start instead of the GUI for the first time 
because the GUI was hanging.

Just purchased a static IP from stargate (which is why I was logging 
back in, so I could see it).
