Hi all,

I just watched the ad. Twice.

Yes, that was Penny Marshall, although I wouldn't say she lends
anything "young and hip" to Linux; she's an icon from 20 years ago,
and I didn't even recognize her - all I could think was "I'm supposed
to know who that is..." Muhammad Ali was cool, though. He does look a
bit like a young Slim Shady, or Draco Malfoy, or Spike. A bit too...
bleached blonde.

I agree that the *messages* in the ad were great. I thought it
was engaging. I'm a sap; I even thought it was touching. Cool. I'm
hoping it will raise awareness and/or interest. I think it will reach
more people than an ad featuring the star developers or Linus Torvalds.

But then I think "what if my dad saw this ad?" He'd think "yeah, I've
heard of that before, it's some computer thing. 'I believe that
children are our future...' And the future is open, whatever the hell
that means." And that would be the end of it.

I'm curious to see what sort of response is generated by playing it
during the NFL season opener (which happens to be the Steelers :).
