[wplug] [OT] PHP/MySQL

Sometime in October Chris assaulted the keyboard and produced:

| I read somewhere that in PHP5 the mysql client libraries will be removed
| because of mysql's licensing.  Aren't both of these GPLed?  Why would php
| have to remove the libraries?  Anyone have some insight on this?

the license for mysql depends on it's use. its kind of weird, but from the
page below, we have the following:

    If your application is not licensed under GPL or compatible OSI license
    approved by MySQL AB and you intend to distribute MySQL software (be
    that internally or externally), you must first obtain a commercial
    license to the MySQL software in question.
