Dear Shawn L. Djernes,

I read a recommendation you made to get to the driver for SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio.

I recently installed a Seagate ST386013A (80GB 7200RPM) as a primary slave drive to onto my ASUS
P4S800 (P4 1.8A GHz)motherboard and installed Red Hat Linux 9 with updates. Granted, I am not well
versed in Linux, except for a couple of installations and fiddling with it here and there.

However, I have become quite interested in educating myself regarding this operating system. I am
currently facing a few issues.

1. Interface eth0 fails to start during the boot process. I tried activating it through the
control panels and it failed again. I believe the driver is at fault here. I just obtained a PCI
Lan Driver V1.16b for SiS LAN Adapter that may solve the problem. If you feel that I need
something else, please, advise.

2. My board has SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. Red Hat Linux 9 installed an SiS7012 PCI Audio
Accelerator (Module i810). It failed to pass the sound test. Again, I believe the driver is at
fault. After several atempts to find it online, I came up empty-handed and a reference to your
email as the one who may seem to know something about my dilemma.

3. Another issue is the modem (U.S. Robotics 56K Fax PCI). I need the driver as well. Any ideas?

The other HHD is a Sumsung, 40 GB, 72 RPM. I am running WinXP without a problem. All seems to be
in order.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Victor M. Reyes-Prieto
