Better is obviously a matter of situation/opinion.

We've also done both the PHP/PDF/SQL thing and the OpenOffice thing, with
acceptable results in both cases.  I guess if you could describe what you
mean by "better"?  OpenOffice has templates built in for most Avery label
formats, BTW.

Personally, I find the "best" solution to be the PHP/PDF/SQL approach,
especially when dealing with large sets of data (over 1000 addresses)
that will need managed.  But that's just me.
