at the top line.

i construct the top of my crontabs like so:

TERM=dumb
SHELL=/bin/csh (whatever shell you want to use)
MAILTO="" or  MAILTO="someone at somewhere.com"


0 1-10 * * *  /path/to/some/script



The MAILTO="" causes the cron to not send mail at all.
