I'd say that for your setup, the easiest solution is adding an Ethernet card 
to the HP, connect it with the Mac with a crossover cable, and configure NAT 
on the HP to forward the packets of the Mac to and fro. Therefore all 
Internet connectivity will be handled by HP, and the connection will be 
shared with the Mac. No need for a hub.
