That worked!!!
Where did you come up with that patch info? I guess I am not a google 
expert eh?
Now I have the mouse to configure (I had to tell x it was just a ps/2 
mouse instead of the genericwheelmouseps/2 that was listed in XF86Config.
It never ends........................
