[wplug] filesystems on regular files + compression

I'm not sure that this problem is specific to the whole filesystem in a 
file thing. I suspect that gzip doesn't support sparse files. As I 
remember, gnu tar handles them with the -S option. You could tar the 
single file, then gzip it, or look for another compression tool that 
handles sparse files.
