[wplug] cdrom not valid block device

Hello.

Just installed slackware 9.0 (very nice distro). My CD-RW/DVD combo
drive is not mounting. I can see that the kernel recognizes it properly
during boot up as /dev/hdc. However:

# mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom
mount: /dev/hdc is not a valid block device

I'm using LILO for my boot loader and I've tried booting with and
without this line in my /etc/lilo.conf file:

append="hdc=ide-scsi"

but that doesn't seem to help at all.

Any other thoughts?  Thanks!
