What is this about?

"How did Linux make the jump into the mainstream?"..... "Second, Intel
Corp., the dominant maker of processors for PCs, loosened its tight links
with Microsoft and started making chips for Linux."

Golly, did I miss out on the Linux Chips? Are they talking about the Linux
Pentium Chip, or maybe the Linux 168 pin SIMM, or the Linux Athalon?
