I'll stifle my usual wit and charm by simply saying that the RHCE
certs is far more than the paper it's printed on. We put 17 high level
field technical guys through training and only 7 passed. Many of these guys
I consider my mentors and have YEARS of UNIX experience.
I have both and an RHCE and a Win2k MCSE and I will tell you that
the former was far more difficult to obtain than the latter. Both times I
passed the RHCE it was by 6 or 8 points, and I spoke with a co-worker that
just took the training for 8.0 and they have made it even more difficult
than prior tests. He failed his 2nd attempt.

That being said - all you'll know after Red Hat training is Red Hat
- but you _will_ know it. Whether or not that's a bad thing is up to you.
But if you think it's worthless head over to Monster.com and search on RHCE
- some of the jobs are pretty awesome.

Were it my choice I would look into the LPI testing. I took the
beta of the first test and it was pure sys-admin crap (I'm a hardware guy)
so it left me kinda cold - but there are several tests now that might be
worth investigation. Since my company is a Certified RH Partner I doubt I
will ever get to stray far from the big bowl or Red Kool-Aid. Yummy.
