I compared the /etc/modules.conf on the machine with the DDS2:

alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx

and the one on the machine with the DDS3 (nonworking)

alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx

So they are the same

I looked in /etc/sysconfig/hwconf and found:

class: SCSI
bus: PCI
detached: 0
driver: aic7xxx
desc: "Adaptec|AHA-2930CU"
vendorId: 9004
deviceId: 3860
subVendorId: 9004
subDeviceId: 3869
pciType: 1

class: TAPE
bus: SCSI
detached: 0
device: st
driver: ignore
desc: "Sony SDT-9000"
host: 1
id: 6
channel: 0
lun: 0

I had already tried the mknod /dev/st0 c 9 0 and I get a file exists...

Thanks,
