Yes, I too asked why anyone would be looking for someone to relocate to the
Greater-Milwaukee area in Feb, but there is an opening for a "software
engineer" within a company that is looking for a 100% migration of their NOC
to (Red Hat) Linux.  RHCE preferred, but commensurate experience will likely
suffice.

I have no ties to the company in question and gain nothing from the
referral, other making myself a better part of....

SUMMARY 
The position will "optimize" the Linux footprint against customer specific
requirements; like diskless environments.  In addition, this position will
establish a department-level software development environment and related
practices.  This environment will focus on the latest Red Hat Linux kernels
and executing the necessary steps to optimize the kernel with customer
applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties
may be assigned.
Ö	Integrate customer applications with a specified revision of Linux
on the target platform.
Ö	Interface for customer's requirements and ensure compliancy with
defined platforms and disciplines.
Ö	Support major customer initiatives.
Ö	Tests defined server configurations against compatibility and
performance requirements, and qualify for sale.
Ö	Prepare internal and external technical documentation for new and
modified features and functionality. Manage project communication with
internal and external customers on a regular basis concerning technical
questions about product features, defects, and enhancement requests.
Ö	Demonstrate product features and performance to internal and
external customers.
Ö	Perform and oversee testing, to assure product quality, including
unit testing and integration testing against customer requirements. 
Ö	Develop software solutions for interoperability problems uncovered
by Development, Manufacturing, QA, Support, or customers.
Ö	Perform software development lifecycle activities for complex
software products. Assignments may include but are not limited to: gathering
technical requirements, writing specifications, planning and designing new
features and/or functionality, analysis and programming activities at the
driver level, creating or improving installation protocols for a variety of
platforms, etc.
