I am a gentoo user. I find a high speed connection necessacary for gentoo. PAIR networks has a gentoo mirror: gentoo.mirrors.pair.com
Anyhow, I would just build it yourself and then perhaps add it to your world file in /var/cache/edb make sure you add it like: gnome-base/gnome
that way when you update it updates gnome. of course i have no guarentee that will work because the ebuild has to be similar to the install that comes with gnome... anyhow i would do it from the disc, given the cirmcumstances... Or i would order Gentoo with the pre-builds on the discs!
I LOVE GENTOO
