No - you just need to add a getty to that port to allow a login.

	I'm not clear on what you're doing here - are you looking to add a
"dumb terminal" or are you looking to add access for another computer on a
network?  If it's the latter, I believe that Linux has some tools to offer
connectivity via Ethernet.
