The best part is how SCO is challenging the validity of the GPL on the
basis that you're only allowed to make one copy of the software for
archival purposes, based on the Copyright Act. However, the Copyright
Act doesn't set limitations on what the copyright holder can do, so it's
a baseless claim. If it were true the whole OEM model for software
vendors would be invalid, since companies like Microsoft give a copy of
their software to hard disk manufacturers who in turn copy it onto their
disks prior to distribution. I've got to admit, SCO is very good at
sabre rattling and trying so spread FUD. But then again, their FUD team
is funded by Microsoft, so it should have been expected.
