[wplug] printer troubles

I set up my parrent's computer with Mandrake 9 after fighting with windows for
2 days, but I can't get a couple of things to work, foremost is the printer.
Nothing happens when I tell something to print.

linuxprinting.org says that mandrake uses CUPS, but when I run qtcups it says
it's using LP, and that there is no CUPS server runing.
I checked and cupsd wasn't running, but when I started it that didn't change
anything.

ghostscript doesn't have my printer driver (I downloaded a file, but I don't
know where to put it).

I tried folowing the directions on linuxprinting.org's web page, but when what
I got didn't match what they said should happen (ex. ghostscript recognising
my printer, haveing a cups directory, etc) I got lost.

I've never set up a printer under linux before, so take it easy on me ;-)
