[wplug] what do the x errors mean?

The debian install, continued:

After running xf86config, I tried "startx", and got
this response:

xauth: creating new authority file /root/.Xauthority
xauth: creating new authority file /root/.Xauthority

(yes it said it twice, then it said)
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xserverrc: /usr/bin/X11/X: No
such file or directory
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xserverrc: exec:
/usr/bin/X11/X: cannot execute: No such file or
directory
giving up
xinit: Connection refused (errno 111): unable to
connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.

I am assuming that it would do no good simply to
create the empty directory /usr/bin/X11/X on my own. I
assume that the system must create (and populate) it.

I've checked both debian.org and XFree86.org, but
don't see anything that says how to deal with this.

Help, anyone?

E.
