[wplug] A second debian install question

On my earlier attempt at a network install, when I
came to the tasksel menu, I selected X windows,
desktop environment, and web server. I did not run
dselect.

Everything went fine until the install ran out of hard
drive space (the drive is only 500MB or so). I hadn't
realized that my selection of tasks would evoke
installations of kde and koffice, among other things.

So I started over, with the intent of making the same
selections in tasksel, then specifying a lightweight
window manager (and *no* koffice) in dselect.

But when I came to tasksel again, an odd thing
happened. I moved the cursor to the X windows menu
item and hit the spacebar to select it - and the
system kicked out of tasksel altogether, moving on to
dselect without me having selected any tasks.

I don't know enough to select from thousands of
individual packages on my own, so I skipped dselect.
The install has continued from there, and looks like
it will complete successfully. However, this means
that I'll have to do some post-install tuning that I
would rather have taken care of *during* installation.

I'd gladly start over if someone could answer this
2-part question: What might have caused the odd
behavior at tasksel, and what could I do to make it
act right?

TIA,
Elwin G.

ps - the goal is to have a webserver which I can
administer through a lightweight GUI, like sawfish.
