And it says:

Which, in my current state of knowledge, is the
dynamic equivalent of:
[alert] blah blah blah

Well, not quite. I do at least get the sense that I
should include this info:
In /etc/hostname, the machine is identified as 486a.
In /etc/hosts, it is listed as 486a.dgard.net

Could either of those cause this problem?
