Thanks John,
I have added "domain master = Yes" to the globals section but I still have
the same problem when trying to connect to the share from the w2k
workstation. Do you have any other suggestions?

You should have a domain master statement in there as well, be careful
though and make sure you set your domain name to something different
than what your current domain is set to.
I have had mixed experiences with using samba as a DC though, most of
them have not been good.
