Dear all

There will be an informal seminar this Friday @ CMU that might interest
GNU/Linux newbies. It will be pretty much CMU-centric, but everyone is
welcome to attend.

We'll try to cover the basics of network security, demonstrate a couple of
hostile activities (password sniffing and port scanning) hopefully without
getting arrested, and walk through the installation and tweaking of a
distribution on CMU laptops (RH 7.3 on IBM Thinkpads).

It will be largely based on the walkthrough at http://andrew.cmu.edy/~apapadop
with some added elements of live vulnerability explanation and demonstration.

Again, it's a newbie deal, so my apologies to the better part of the list that
won't be interested.

If you're interested, mail me and show up at 18:00, Hamburg Hall room 1000.

Cheers
