Well, you could have a look at a tutorial I've put up at

for my experiences installing Red Hat 7.3 on a T23.

On the T23 everything works fine (little trouble with modem, dunno about IrDA 
but people have reported that both work)

- From there on, see if there are major differences in the hardware and make 
your decision.

The refund stuff will work if you're ready to argue big time with your vendor 
- - if you get the chance though, do it.

(our CMU laptops came "preconfigured", so we didn't have a chance to accept 
any EULA before using them...)
