[wplug] Computer for Geeks + [ot] Hardware question

I may have a P133 CPU, or 166 to offer if I ever get around to cleaning out
my work area and maybe a motherboard to go with. I would certainly be
willing to donate that towards a machine in the WPLUG loaner program.
On another note;
There is a place out in Robinson that is going under (used to be
computer renisance) they are discounting their overpriced-out-of-date
merchandise if anyone is interested. It is in the same strip that CompUSA
moved to....hmm I wonder if there is a connection.
[ot Hardware question]
I picked up a Sony CD-RW at a faboulus price the other day. It was sold as
is and I figured that it was probably broken, well it seems I was right. I
decided to give the internals a look and I removed the four screws that held
part of the metal case on, then removed the 2 screws that secured part of
the circuit boared, and I could see that there was a cdrom in the drive.
>From as far as I could get my finger in there it seems there is actually 2
CDroms in there which could explain why it doesn't work. So I backed myself
out and put all the screws back in there correct place. My plans is to hook
it back up and try sticking a paper clip in the little eject hole on the
front of the drive.
I think that is a fairly safe assumption that it will not work. Ithink
that it is not prepared for the thickness of 2 disks and it is wrecking the
motor or the drive thinks the motor died and will not work correctly. So I
am wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to get the cdroms out if plan A
does not work, is there a way to mannually force the drive door open? Or
perhaps I should try taking the drive further apart? I would really like to
save the drive so any thoughts would be appreciated.

p.s. Does anybody know of a good place to get good, cheap, new or used
monitors?
