[wplug] Newbie question on graphical login

There is no advantage or disadvantage except ascetics and system resources. 
If you want to get rid of graphical login, edit the file /etc/inittab. 
Look for a line like this:

id:5:initdefault:

and replace it with this

id:3:initdefault:

This should make you start your machine at run level 3 which is multi-user, 
network, but no X OS.
