[wplug] posters?

Yeah- it's a scientific poster. I have used powerpoint in the past, but
I was wondering if there are any linux tools available for this. Thanks
for the Corel Draw suggestion- I will look into it. I think Corel makes
their office suite for linux too. ;) I am sure that there are a lot of
us in the sciences (ahem. John?) who present scientific posters at
meetings. How do you do it? Thanks again,
Doug

I know it's for windows, but you could use Corel Draw
(http://www3.corel.com/cgi-bin/gx.cgi/AppLogic+FTContentServer?pagename=
Corel/Product/Details
<http://www3.corel.com/cgi-bin/gx.cgi/AppLogic+FTContentServer?pagename=
Corel/Product/Details&id=CC1IOY1YKCC> &id=CC1IOY1YKCC). It works great.
You can do columns of text, import figures (images) write out pdf files,
set the size of the paper. Does a much better job than powerpoint. The
academic price is cheap for windows software (approx. $160). Is this
for a scientific poster?

Hi all-
Does anyone know of a decent application which allows for large format
layout (ie: poster size)? I have used LaTeX a bit, and I'm sure I could
specify a big pagesize with the appropriate document class, but the
thought of trying to make a poster with it gives me nightmares. Any
suggestions are welcome. Thanks,
Doug
