I guess it depends on who you speak to.  Was it a home sales rep, or who was
it?  I assume I'll have to go higher up than a sales person next time.

  I've had a wonderful experience when I called Dell. I had to do a little
bargaining but I was able to order a Latitude C440 (I think that's what it
is... don't have it with me right now) with nothing installed... just the
hardware. I probably still paid for the M$ bundle but I dind't have to deal
with any extra CD's. Kinda nice. Just a laptop with nothing on it and some
warranty papers and stuff.
