You may want to use 2.4.17 if you use the UHCI driver.  I have a pegasus-based
USB ethernet device also and it was very flakey with 2.4.18 (it's a 'known'
issue).  OTOH, if you're using something like RH 7.2, their latest kernel
2.4.9-34 supports it well.
