Sometime in July John S. Post assaulted keyboard and produced...

|John,
|I am also running redhat 7.3 on a laptop.
|To answer your first question...
|I conclude my cdrom is an ide device
|because when I type the command:
|cat /proc/ide/ide0/hdb/driver
|I get the following response:
|ide-cdrom version 4.59
|- John S. Post

that's the weird thing, in /proc/ide/ide0 only hba exsists. perhaps gateway
is using a proprietary interface, but i kinda doubt it. it's just cheaper
now to make it ide. i have a strange feeling it has something to do with
the docking station. all of the other features i've tried with the docking
station (floppy, network, etc) work. it's just the cdrom.
