What do you see in System Tools -> Network Device Control? Doesn't the 
card show up in any configuration tool, or is it simply there and not 
configured? What card is it?

After grub calls the 2000 partition, there should be no difference. 
Something else is happening here - could it be that your 2000 partition 
is low on free space (i.e. less than ~800MB)?

Quick answer: No.
More realistically, you might. Check out www.winehq.org and look for the 
wine package in your Red Hat CDs, I believe it's there.
